Project:
Google - Android Portrait
Description:
Google’s Tel Aviv Campus tapped HIPSTORY to create a portrait of their iconic Android brand mascot.
Google’s Tel Aviv campus is a hub for creativity, helping develop young startups and entrepreneurs in the famous ‘Silicon Wadi’. Google reached out to HIPSTORY to help inspire those at their new campus by creating a HIPSTORY version of their iconic Android mascot.
The Android mascot stood to be the first HIPSTORY icon not based on a human - and the artist behind HIPSTORY, Amit Shimoni, was up for the challenge! The unique process of creating an Android portrait had multiple steps. First, Shimoni took the flat, 2D logo and gave it some 3D life. Next, he created two versions, one male and one female, allowing a variety of Google Campus visitors to have someone to identify with.
Finally, Shimoni adorned each version with details related to the Google Campus mission, Tel Aviv values, and to the startup world itself: the male version tattooed with “work hard, play hard”, a mohawk and hipster floral shirt, while the female a unicorn tattoo, #girlboss attire and super cool fanny pack.
The HIPSTORY Android mascot now serves as an interior design piece in the new Google Campus Tel Aviv building. For us at HIPSTORY, this collaboration showed how our portraits can seamlessly partner with top-tier global brands. Taking the HIPSTORY concept and applying it to a fictional character, as well as combining between brand and city, was an experience we loved, and are looking forward to doing again.
